Tromsø Cruise Port
Tromsø and Lyngen
Tromsø is situated about 1400 miles south of the North Pole, the same
latitude as Alaska and Siberia. Flight time from the capital Oslo is
just under two hours; sailing time from Bergen is four days. Tromsø is
known as the gateway to the Arctic, a university town and the largest
city within the Arctic Circle. It is also the capital of a vast region
spanning three cultures, four large fjords and hundred of islands. Not
to mention thousands of impressions.
The city is surrounded by untouched
nature, beautiful scenery and high mountains covered with snow during
the whole year. In addition to this Tromsø is considered a modern and
trendy city, with many coffee shops and exclusive restaurants. Because
of the Gulf Stream our harbours are ice-free all year. The average
temperature in January is 26 degrees Fahrenheit. Lowest temperature
ever measured is minus 1 degree Fahrenheit. These factors combined with
the spectacular Northern ights makes Tromsø an interesting cruise
destination during the winter as well.
3 hours sailing from Tromsø ships
can visit the Lyngen fjord, where the majestic Lyngen Alps is the main
attraction. To visit the municipality of Lyngen it is possible to dock
in the fjord with your ships.
Tromsø is already one of the largest cruise ship harbours in Norway with around 90 ships
docking
every year. VISIT TROMSØ coordinates everything from sightseeing to
turnarounds, and Tromsø has all the necessary facilities to make the
best turnarounds possible. The airport is situated only 10 minutes
drive from the city centre and the piers. Good supply opportunities are
offered for your ships in Tromsø.
We can offer the passengers excursions that include museums, attractions, shopping,
Sami wilderness visits, authorized guides who speak 12 different languages, among other things.
We cooperate with professional cruise agents throughout Norway, which will provide you with
